I should have started this last year when I actually started my masters but better late than never.
Today, I had a class titled Administrative law, and boy was it familiar! Being that my bachelors was in law and I took a class called Administrative law in 2017.
Back then I studied Nigerian Administrative Law so I expected many similarities as per usual, the class started with us defining law and the differentiating between law and morals. This brought back many memories of Jurisprudence class and the never ending cycle of philosophical legal discourse.
In typical Celine fashion I sat at the front of the class alone on the front row as usual. Thankfully the Professor paired us when he asked us to do group work, meaning lonely Celine had a partner who turned out to be really fun and amazing.
For our group task we had to define law, individually and then as a pair. Of course my answer was very eloquent and legal tainted by the five years I spent studying law and my partners answer was very accurate and simple. When I read his response my mind was blown because I’d tried to come up with the same answer but my version sucked.
Learning moment!
We are different, we think differently, we see differently and that truly is the beauty of life.
When we paired our responses together this is what we came up with:
The law is from the collective norms or stereotypes of a specific area which regulates the relationship between government/ leadership and citizen. The aim is to protect the rights of citizens and sets consequences for actions. Can be written or unwritten
At the end of the class I had made many mistakes and thankfully I didn’t go down the rabbit hole of beating myself up for failing. Instead I reminded myself that at the end of the semester I’d have learnt.
Learning moment!
Learning doesn’t take place at the beginning or at the end, it takes place in the in between so be kind to yourself during the process because you can’t really catch it till you need it.
Asides from classes, I had a call with my new boss! And I spoke to an expert in digital transformation and education field because it’s about to be thesis season and your girl is getting ready.
Until next time,
Your friendly
Public Policy and Management ,
Masters Student.
